General Information of HIF (ID: HIFC0021)
HIF Name
CD68+ macrophages
HIF Synonym(s)
CD68+ macrophages
HIF Classification
Macrophages (Mac)
Description CD68 is highly expressed by monocytes and tissue macrophages, including Kupffer cells, microglia, histiocytes and osteoclasts, and to a lesser extent on dendritic cells and peripheral blood granulocytes. However CD68 expression is not unique to myeloid cells, it can also be found on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells [1]
Microbe Species (MIC) Regulated by This HIF
         Fusobacterium nucleatum (fusobacteria) MIC00617
Description The high abundance of Fusobacterium nucleatum was positively correlated with a high density of CD68+ macrophages(79%;p=0.019). [2]
