General Information of MIC (ID: MIC00579)
MIC Name Eubacterium saphenum (firmicutes)
Body Site Oral Cavity
Lineage Kingdom: Bacteria
Phylum: Firmicutes
Class: Clostridia
Order: Clostridiales
Family: Clostridiales Family XIII. Incertae Sedis
Genus: Eubacterium
Species: Eubacterium saphenum
Oxygen Sensitivity Obligate anaerobe
Microbial Metabolism Saccharolytic; Fermentative
Gram Positive
Host Relationship Commensal
Genome Size (bp) 1084901
Description Eubacterium saphenum are asaccharolytic, anaerobic, Gram-positive rods (AAGPR). There have been only a few reports of AAGPR isolated from oral disease sites. AAGPR are difficult to culture. Thus in previous studies, they may have been overlooked because of their poorgrowth using conventional procedures.
